A cookie is defined as a small, individually baked dessert item made from dough, which may include mix-ins such as chocolate chips, nuts, fruits, or fillings. Bars, brownies, cakes, and pastries do not qualify.

Rules

  • Each entry must consist of at least 8 cookies.
  • Cookies must be prepared in a home or commercial kitchen and handled safely.
  • No raw or undercooked ingredients (e.g., raw eggs in frosting)
  • Clearly label any common allergens (nuts, dairy)
  • No store-bought or pre-made cookies.

Taste 40%  | Appearance 30% | Creativity 30%.

Judging will be done by a panel of Kansas City Barbeque Society judges.

Awards will be announced on June 13 at 3:00 p.m. at the Don Hattan Derby Mainstage. Prizes will be given to the top three finishers.

1st Place:   $100
2nd Place:   $75
3rd Place:   $50

Entrants are invited to participate in the Cookie Ancillary Competition. Each entry must consist of eight (8) servings. Cookies are to be prepared prior to arrival.

The City of Derby, sponsor Smoke on the Plains BBQ & Music Fest, including its officers, sponsors and/or associates and the contestants, including parents, and/or legal representatives, agree that the City of Derby will in no case be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury regardless of how much loss, damage, or injury is occasioned, and indemnify and save harmless the City of Derby from any and all claims, suits, and/or judgments including the cost for defense of and such claim and/or suit by the City of Derby brought by anyone as a result of any loss, damage or injury to any person or property, occasioned by any action or inaction of contestant, either solely or in conjunction with the City of Derby. Further, I hereby grant full permission to the City of Derby and/or agents authorized by them, to use any photographs or video recordings of this team at the event for any legitimate purposes.
